BET Releases Extended Trailer for Upcoming New Edition Biopic

New Edition extended trailer The more we see of BET’s New Edition Story, the more we can’t wait to sit down in front of our TVs to check out the behind-the-scenes look at one of R&B’s most notorious boy bands.

The newly released extended trailer takes longer look at the group’s rise and dramatic climax, from their days rehearsing as kids, through scoring their first big record deal and all the drama that followed, which ranged from drug abuse to missing money to ego trips and everything in-between. One of the most exciting facts about the biopic, is that New Edition themselves were involved in the production (they’re credited as co-producers on the miniseries), so fans can look forward to the series sticking as close to fact as possible.

“From our beginning in the Orchard Park Projects in Boston to Hollywood and everything in between, just like The Temptations and The Jackson Five—we are ready to retrace our footsteps and show everyone how we got here. For the fans all over the world, this one’s for you,” New Edition previously said in a statement.

The 3-night event stars Bryshere Y. Gray (Empire) as adult Michael Bivins and Dante Hoagland (Emelie)as child Michael; Elijah Kelley (The Wiz Live!) and Caleb McLaughlin (Stranger Things) will portray Ricky Bell as an adult and child respectively; Grammy®-nominated singer/songwriter Luke James plays Johnny Gill; Algee Smith (Let It Shine) as adult Ralph Tresvant and Jahi Winston (Feed The Beast) as young Ralph; Keith Powers (Straight Outta Compton) will play Ronnie Devoe as an adult and Myles Truitt will play Ronnie as a child; and Woody McClain (Autographs) rounds out the group, as Head Bad Boy In Charge, Bobby Brown, while Tyler Williams will play young Bobby.
