‘Black-ish’ Star Anthony Anderson Hasn’t Picked His Golden Globes Date Yet

Anthony Anderson Golden GlobeAnthony Anderson is on enjoying his accomplishment after earning hsi first ever Golden Globe nomination for his role on Black-ish. With new achievements come new problems however, and now the star has one big decision on his hands: who will he choose to accompany him to the ceremony?

In an exclusive chat with Essence, Anderson revealed that he hasn’t made up his mind about his Golden Globes date yet, but that one special lady has already put a bid in for the spot. “I’m not sure who I will be taking to the Golden Globes just yet,” he said. “But when my daughter called to congratulate me, the next words out of her mouth were, ‘how many tickets do you get?’ So it’s safe to say that my daughter is already positioning herself for a seat at the table!”

Anderson is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy and is up against Gael Garcia Bernal (Mozart in the Jungle); Donald Glover (Atlanta); Nick Nolte (Graves); and Jeffrey Tambor (Transparent). Black-ish also received a nomination for Best TV Series, Comedy or Musical, which Anderson is also very proud of.

“I’m very excited about my individual nomination, but I’m really proud of the nomination for the show,” Anderson told Essence. “My reaction was that of shear excitement and surprise. You never know how these nominations will go since this is all subjective,” he added. “As far as me and the rest of the Black-ish cast celebrating our nominations, we took a moment out of our day to congratulate our entire cast and crew. Then we went back to making the magic that we call Black-ish.”

The 2017 Golden Globes, hosted by Jimmy Fallon, will air Sunday, January 8 on NBC.
