Viola Davis to Receive 2017’s First Hollywood Walk of Fame Star


Acting powerhouse Viola Davis will receive a highly-coveted star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in January- the first one being awarded in 2017.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced that Davis will receive the 2,596th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on January 5, 2017in the category of Motion Pictures. “Viola is one of the actresses who always mesmerize fans with her talent. She is amazing and we are thrilled that she will grace our world famous Hollywood Walk of Fame,” stated Walk of Fame producer, Ana Martinez, in a press release.

Davis received classical training in the arts at The Julliard School and also holds an Honorary Doctorate from there as well as an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts degree from her alma mater, Rhode Island College. She began her acting career in theater after graduating from Juilliard, winning her first Tony for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play for her portrayal of Tonya in King Hedley II.

Most recently, the 51-year-old actress has garnered critical acclaim for her role opposite Denzel Washington in Fences and her starring role as Annalise Keating in the hit ABC series How to Get Away with Murder.
