Wu Tang Clan’s RZA Steps Into the Menswear Business

Wu Tang Clan’s own RZA has already made a name for himself in the world of hip-hop, and now he’s preparing to make a name for himself in the fashion industry: he’s launching his own clothing line.

36 Chambers comes from the mind of RZA and creative Mustafa Shaikh- a contemporary menswear line that fuses elements of hip-hop, Chinese culture and high fashion to carve its own niche within menswear. “36 Chambers is inspired by the Wu philosophy: kung fu, mathematics, Eastern philosophy and art,” said RZA in a press release. “Using that as a foundation, we’ve blended together the rugged feel of streetwear, with the quality craftsmanship of high fashion, to create apparel with a classic look.”

His co-founder Shaikh adds, “We put a lot of attention into the execution of the line to ensure that each limited piece told a story. Every detail—the embroidery work, to the liner, to even the hangtag—was thoughtfully considered in order to tell a cohesive narrative.”

The initial collection, which launches November 18th, features the Golden Dragon, a symbol of wisdom, energy and strength. Pieces from the collection will include include limited edition jackets, shirts, bags, accessories, and even a women’s souvenir jacket.
