Tupac, Chaka Khan and More Make 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominees List

Tupac, Chaka Khan, Janet Jackson and more have been announced as part of 2017’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominee list.

Musicians are eligible for Hall of Fame consideration 25 years after the release of their first album or single and according to USA Today, “inductees will be determined by more than 800 artists, historians and music-industry professionals.”

Of this year’s 19 nominees, 6 are black. In addition to Tupac, Jackson and Khan, the other African-American nominees are Bad Brains, Chic, and Joe Tex.

Fans are able to participate in the voting process through select media outlets, including usatoday.com, Rolling Stone, The Huffington Post, SiriusXM and at rockhall.com. Voting ends Dec. 5 and the top five artists will make up a fans’ ballot, which counts as a single vote.
