new-edition-biopicWhen BET announced that they’ve been working with New Edition to bring the R&B group’s story to the network, it set off a wave of excitement within the ever-present New Edition fandom. Now, we finally have a premiere date and first look at the drama-filled behind-the-scenes story of how the group was formed, fell apart and fell back together again.

The New Edition Story will air as a six hour, three night event on January 24, 25, and 26, 2017. According to the network, the biopic “follows the group from their humble beginnings as kids in Boston to global mega stardom – weathering the highs and lows of controversy, personnel changes, and the ultimate cost of fame.”

“From our beginning in the Orchard Park Projects in Boston to Hollywood and everything in between, just like The Temptations and The Jackson Five—we are ready to retrace our footsteps and show everyone how we got here. For the fans all over the world, this one’s for you,” said New Edition in a statement.

The biopic’s cast is ripe with young talent and since the band played an active role in the film’s production, the story will not only be entertaining, but credible as well. Check out the details of the star-studded cast below:
