Serena Williams US Open
Serena Williams may have disappointed herself at this year’s Olympics, but she’s more than made up for it in her most recent U.S. Open match.

The star athlete is now the winningest player in Grand Slam history after earning her 308th career match win. Williams won 6-2, 6-3 over Yaroslava Shvedova, cementing herself another place in sports history , as well as landing a spot in the quarterfinals.

“I just feel like I’m going out there doing what I need to do,” Serena told reporters according to USA Today. “I’m not overplaying, I’m not underplaying. I’m just trying to play my way into this tournament.”

The stars came out to see Serena play- Beyonce and Jay Z, Carmelo and Lala Anthony, Orange is the New Black star Uzo Aduba, and Kelly Rowland were all spotted at the US Open matches.

“I just think with everyone I play, they play a step up and above their ranking,” Williams also said. “I think that’s the beauty, one of the reasons I’m able to hang. Everyone I’m playing is playing like they’re No. 1. To me it doesn’t really matter who I play because I have to expect they’re going to play the match of their life. That’s how I go into these matches now.”
