Vanessa Williams and Tichina Arnold Are VH1’s ‘Daytime Divas’

Vanessa Willams VH1
Vanessa Williams and Tichina Arnold are two actresses who are great at playing characters with strong personalities. Now, thanks to their new project, Daytime Divas, the co-stars will have plenty of opportunity to flex those acting muscles.

Daytime Divas is the newest scripted series from VH1 and both Williams and Arnold have signed on to star. The series is inspired by Star Jones’ 2011 book Satan’s Sisters… A Novel of Fiction “set behind the scenes of a long-running daytime television show, chronicling the fireworks that erupt daily between the five female co-hosts. On screen, they are best friends with five very different points of view, but behind the scenes, they inhabit a world of power struggles, cat fights and cocktails,” according to VH1. Hmmm… That book plot sounds an awful lot like Jones could have been inspired by her time co-hosting on The View to us.

Williams is set to take on the role of Maxine’ – the creator/host of the popular talk show The Lunch Hour-and Arnold will co-star as Mo, one of Maxine’s fellow co-hosts and frenemies. The new show also stars Chloe Bridges (“The Carrie Diaries”) as ‘Kibby,’ Camille Guaty (“Scorpion”) as ‘Nina’ and Fiona Gubelmann (“Wilfred”) as ‘Heather’ all of whom also play co-hosts on the fictional daytime series. McKinley Freeman (“Hit The Floor”) has also been cast as ‘Shawn,’ Maxine’s son and ‘The Lunch Hour’ producer.

Jones and the rest of the cast have already started sharing how excited they are about the new project:

The show recently began filming in Atlanta and will premiere on VH1 in 2017.
