‘Lemonade’ Earns Four Emmy Nominations

Beyonce Lemonade Emmys
When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. Then Beyonce takes that lemonade and makes history.

After receiving four Emmy nominations for Lemonade, Beyonce is inching closer to one of the most prestigious, and rare, achievements in show business, the “EGOT” (short for when artist earn an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award.)

The one-hour special, which premiered on HBO in April, received nods for Outstanding Variety Special, Outstanding Production Design for a Variety, Nonfiction, Event or Award Special, Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, and Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming.

While Queen Bey already has plenty of Grammy’s under her belt, an Emmy would cross the “E” off her list. She came close to an Oscar in 2006 when a few Dreamgirls song were nominated for the award, but Bey didn’t snag that prize. She also has yet to appear on Broadway to qualify for a Tony.

Only 12 showbiz legends have ever completed the EGOT challenge, including Audrey Hepburn, Rita Moreno and Whoopi Goldberg.

The 68th Emmy® Awards, including the star-studded Red Carpet pre-show, will telecast from The Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, Sunday, September 18th (7:00-11:00 p.m. ET/4:00-8:00 p.m. PM PT) on ABC.
