Drake Cancels Summer Sixteen Tour Meet and Greets

Drake cancels meets
Drake fans looking to score some one on one time with the rapper during his upcoming tour are out of luck.

The Toronto rapper has cancelled all meet and greets during his Summer Sixteen Tour. When tickets for the tour went on sale in April, VIP tour packages were sold for $1,000 with a photo opportunity but were canceled due to “scheduling issues” with refunds currently in the works.

VIP ticket holders received emails notifying them of the cancellation and were given the option of keeping the ticket and memorabilia portion of their package with a $300 refund or a full refund.

While Drake or his camp have yet to release an official statement about the cancellations, a source close to the rapper says that the pressure of performing combined with the stress of nightly meet and greets was going to be too much for the rapper and that he would much rather save his energy for the stage.

Earlier this year, Justin Bieber also decided to cancel meet and greets for the remainder of his Purpose tour citing “security incident.” Bieber also posted a message on Instagram telling fans that the meet and greets left him “feeling so drained and filled with so much of other people’s spiritual energy that I end up so drained and unhappy.. Want to make people smile and happy but not at my expense and I always leave feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression.”

The news also follows the tragic death of Voice star Christina Grimmie, who was shot by a crazed fan as she signed autographs at an Orlando venue following a performance.

The Summer Sixteen Tour kicks off on July 20 in Austin, Texas.
