Missy Elliott has been confirmed as the second honoree at this year’s Hip Hop Honors: All Hail the Queens event.

Hip Hop Honors returns this year after a six-year hiatus and will pay homage to the female pioneers that broke down barriers and made a place for themselves and future generations in the male-dominated genre. VH1 states that “hugely influential female artists being honored will be announced later this week” in addition to Missy Elliott and Queen Latifah.

Missy Elliot has spent the last three decades as one of the most recognizable voices in hip hop. Her unique sound helped break walls in the world of hip-hop and her groundbreaking music videos have already been dubbed as iconic. The critically acclaimed, five time Grammy Award-winning producer/songwriter/singer/rapper has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. All six of Missy Elliott’s studio albums have been platinum certified or better, making her the only female rapper to have achieved this.

Previously announced as another of the event’s honorees is one of the show’s executive producers, Queen Latifah. More announcements of honorees are sure to come in the next few weeks leading up to the show.

Hip Hop Honors: All Hail the Queens will air live from New York on July 11 at 9 p.m. ET.
