Kimbo Slice dead
Famed MMA Fighter Kimbo Slice has died at the age of 42.

TMZ reported earlier on Monday that Slice was hospitalized near his home in Coral Springs, FL and in dire condition. He passed away shortly after.

While no details have been released regarding why the legendary fighter — whose real name is Kevin Ferguson — was hospitalized, police told ESPN that Ferguson was taken to the hospital for undisclosed reasons, adding that no 911 call was made and there is not an investigation into the matter.

The CEO of Bellator MMA, Scott Coker, later confirmed the news and released a statement.“We are all shocked and saddened by the devastating and untimely loss of Kimbo Slice, a beloved member of the Bellator family,” Coker said in the statement. “One of the most popular MMA fighters ever, Kimbo was a charismatic, larger-than-life personality that transcended the sport,” Coker said. “Outside of the cage he was a friendly, gentle giant and a devoted family man. His loss leaves us all with extremely heavy hearts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ferguson family and all of Kimbo’s friends, fans, and teammates.”

Slice first rose to fame in the early 2000’s when he began uploading videos as a backyard fighter whose brawls gathered thousands of views online. He later signed a deal to fight in the UFC.
