Azealia Banks Dropped From Born and Bred Festival Following Racist Rant

Azealia Banks has been dropped from a UK music festival after she made a series of racial slurs and other offensive remarks on Twitter.

The 24-year-old Harlem rapper went on yet another controversial Twitter tirade Tuesday night where she made multiple racist comments about Zayn Malik and said that “UK RAP is just a disgrace to rap culture in general.”

The festival announced the cancelation on Twitter. “We have decided to cancel Azealia Banks’ headline appearance at Rinse | Born & Bred Festival,” read the statement. “Rinse | Born & Bred Festival is a celebration of rave culture and has been created for EVERYONE. We celebrate inclusivity and equality.”

This incident in just the latest in a long line of Twitter based controversies for Banks.  She recently endorsed Donald Trump for US President, describing him as “evil, like America”.

The Born & Bred Festival takes place at Haggerston Park between June 4-5. The festival will see acts including iLoveMakonnen, Wiley, Benga, Lady Leshurr and Logan Sama appear across two days of live music. Grime DJ Sama had previously threatened to boycott the festival if Banks stayed on as headliner.
