Beyonce Lands Sixth No. 1 Album with ‘Lemonade’

Beyonce Lemonade Number 1

Beyonce is officially at the top of the charts (again) with her newest studio release, Lemonade.

It’s no surprise that the star’s latest album is killing the charts right now, claiming the number one spot on the Billboard 200. The world literally stopped when Bey debuted the visual album on HBO and fans continued to express their approval of her latest work, through social media and album sales. According to Billboard, Lemonade has “earned 653,000 equivalent album units in the week ending April 28”, 45,000 of which were comprised of pure album sales.

The achievement makes Beyonce the only act to make it to the number one spot with their first six studio albums. Lemonade now joins the ranks of her self-titled album in 2013, 4 (2011), I Am… Sasha Fierce (2008), B’Day (2006) and Dangerously In Love (2003).

Since Lemonade‘s release, fans haven’t stopped trying to decode its raw lyrics. While Bey has remained mum on where the inspiration for the album came from, her mother, Tina Lawson, says that she released it to offer “healing and hope to the universe” and to remind everyone that “no matter what you’ve gone thru in life you can always come out on the other side!”
