The First Trailer for Nate Parker’s ‘The Birth of a Nation’ Is Here!

Birth of a Nation
Nate Parker’s The Birth of a Nation has garnered buzz since its premiere at Sundance earlier in the year and now fans can get a peek at what all the fuss has been over.

The powerful teaser trailer debuted at Cinemacon recently. Judging from the glimpses audiences are given, Birth of a Nation will be raw, heartbreaking and uplifting and should be a real contender during award season next year. The tale, written and directed by Parker, who also stars in the film, brings the story of Nat Turner, who led a rebellion of slaves and free blacks, to life.

The movie debuted at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival on January 25, 2016 to critical acclaim and FOX subsequently purchased the worldwide rights for $17.5 million, the largest deal at the film festival to date.

Set against the antebellum South, THE BIRTH OF A NATION follows Nat Turner (Nate Parker), a literate slave and preacher, whose financially strained owner, Samuel Turner (Armie Hammer), accepts an offer to use Nat’s preaching to subdue unruly slaves. As he witnesses countless atrocities – against himself and his fellow slaves – Nat orchestrates an uprising in the hopes of leading his people to freedom.

The Birth of a Nation will head to theaters October 7.
