Music Legend Prince Dead at 57

PrinceThe world has lost a legend. It’s been confirmed that Prince has died at the age of 57.

Prince, born Prince Rogers Nelson, flew to superstardom thanks to his mixture of musical talent, individuality, air of mystery and pure electricity.

The star landed his first record deal at the age of 18 and was selling out tours around the US up until just last week, proving the strength and longevity of his career, as well as the dedicated fanbase he gained.

Ahead of what would be his final concert in Atlanta, he rescheduled two shows in the city, with the official word being that “the entertainer is battling the flu.” He was later released and performed in the city on April 14.

Following his Atlanta performance, Prince made an emergency stop at a hospital in Moline, Illinois, but was released and said to be “fine and at home,” which seemed to be the case because the performer was spotted at his residence and studio Paisley Park, giving a small gathering for fans and even performing.

There’s currently no indication of what caused the musician’s sudden death, but it’s been reported that he was possibly suffering from “flu-like symptoms” or “pneumonia.” An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

The star was known for being very private, but those who had the opportunity to meet him will recall that he was still very outgoing, kind and pretty funny too! “He really wasn’t in front of the public a lot outside of his music, a lot like Michael Jackson…Michael Jackson was shy. I wouldn’t call Prince shy.” Larry King told CNN‘s Wolf Blitzer about interviewing the artist.

Celebrities have begun expressing their sadness and shock over social media:

I Miss My Brother. Prince Was A Funny Cat. Great Sense Of Humor.

Attaining a level of stardom that many shoot for but few reach, Prince’s talent crossed racial and cultural barriers and will continue to touch humanity for generations to come.

The world has certainly lost a giant.
