Shemar Moore Is Officially Leaving Criminal Minds

All good things must come to an end.

Shemar Moore is leaving Criminal Minds after 11 seasons, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Wednesday night’s episode, “Beautiful Disaster,” marked Moore’s last appearance on the show.

The 45-year-old actor began his journey as FBI Special Agent Derek Morgan in 2005. While he was hesitant about taking the role at first, he ultimately decided to take a leap of faith. “When we started, there were 102 cop shows … and I questioned why they needed 103 but what we found out was that Criminal Minds as a different type of show,” Moore told THR. “We were the little train that could. There were so many doubters and 11 years and 251 episodes later, I’m very proud. It’s nice to exhale now. I feel really at peace with the fact that I left it all out on the field.”

While he wrapped his time on Criminal Minds more than a month ago, Moore is taking his time planning out his next move. The heartthrob wants to follow in the footsteps of actors George Clooney and Denzel Washington – who both found commercial success after leaving popular shows. “I’m not saying I’m the next George Clooney or Denzel Washington because I haven’t earned that right — but without taking a leap, I’ll never find out what I’m capable of,” he says with a laugh.

While we wait for Moore to figure out his next move, you can catch him in The Bounce Back due later this year.
