Trevor Noah Returns to ‘The Daily Show’ After Health Scare

Trevor Noah had to undergo an emergency appendectomy Wednesday morning, but now he is back at work and ready to talk– and even joke– about his health scare.

The Daily Show host returned to work on Thursday after taking a short leave of absence due to his medical issues. He opened the show by making light of his health scare.

“What better way [to experience the U.S.] than to experience America’s health care system for myself,” he joked. “It was an interesting experience going to the emergency room, although I don’t know if ’emergency room’ is the right term because they make you wait.”

He continued: “I feel like there should be two rooms: a room for emergencies and a room for people who can fill out forms,” Noah continued.

He recalls being in excruciating pain and asking to see a doctor immediately while a woman at the front desk repeatedly told him he had to fill out the required forms and give more information. “What other information do you need other than the fact that I’m dying,” he joked.

After filling out forms and still enduring pain, the host was asked by the nurse, “How are you paying for this?” to which he responded “Well, with my life clearly because you’re not helping me.”

Luckily, the 31-year-old finally received the assistance he needed, and is back in good spirits and good health.

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET.
