Nicki Minaj is taking her talents to the small screen.

The rapper will executive produce and appear in an ABC Family scripted series based on her life. The half-hour comedy series will focus on her family’s immigration from Trinidad in the early 1990s, her growing up in Queens and the personal and musical evolution that led to her eventual rise to stardom, according to a press release.

“This is one of the more unique adventures I’ve ever embarked on,” Minaj said via the press release. “I couldn’t be more proud and excited to team up with an amazing group of people to give the world something really special.”

While casting news hasn’t been announced yet, it has been revealed that Kate Angelo of Will and Grace and Bernie Mac wrote the pilot and will write and executive produce the series alongside Minaj. Other executive producers include Aaron Kaplan, Stella Bulochnikov, Brian Sher, and Gee Roberson.

“Nicki Minaj is a force to be reckoned with at everything she touches,” Karey Burke, executive vice president of programming and development at ABC Family, said in a statement. “We’re beyond thrilled to bring her one-of-a-kind story to our channel. Nicki is an international superstar, yet not everyone knows how inspiring and hilarious her true story is, and we can’t wait to share it with the world.”

ABC Family has already handed out a series commitment to the project, but there is no premiere date as of now.
