Tamar Braxton,Val Chmerkovskiy Perform Quickstep on ‘DWTS’ Premiere

Tamar Braxton DWTS

Tamar Braxton brought the heat during her routine with professional dance partner Val Chmerkovskiyon on the the Dancing With the Stars premiere on Monday night (September 14) in Hollywood.

The dancing duo took on the quickstep for their routine, which is one of the hardest dances to tackle due to the tempo and intricate footwork.

Despite the challenge, the pair’s performance was received well by the judges.

“High octane, high value, high class, incredible amount of content. Just keeping up the pace at that speed was unbelievable,” says Bruno Tonioli, adding that it was a “brilliant beginning.”

“You blew me away, just flat-out blew me away,” says Carrie Ann Inaba. “It is week one, that is one of the hardest dances to do.”

Judge Julianne Hough did remind Braxton to keep her “frame back” and Tonioli says she had a slight “misplacement of the feet,” but overall the critique was good.

The team scored a 23/30, placing them at a tied for the second highest score of night with Carlos Pena Vega and Witney Carson. Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough tied with Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess for the highest score of the night at 24 points.
