Bobbi Kristina Brown Dead at 22, Autopsy Planned

Bobbi Kristina Brown

Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of the late music legend Whitney Houston and R&B singer Bobby Brown, passed away on July 26. She was 22.

Bobbi Kristina died at the Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, Georgia, surrounded by her family in her last moments.

“Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away July, 26 2015, surrounded by her family. She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months,” Kristen Foster, a representative for the Houston family said Sunday.

Just a day after her death, medical examiners have announced that an autopsy will be performed to determine what led to her “non-natural death.”

In a statement Monday morning, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office stated that: “The death of Bobbi Kristina Brown has been reported to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office in accordance with state death investigation laws requiring investigation of known or suspected non-natural deaths. Because the events at her home leading to her death occurred in Fulton County (Roswell), her death has been reported to the Fulton County Medical Examiner for determination of the cause, manner, and circumstances of death. Despite the long interval between her being found unresponsive and her death, an autopsy will still be necessary to further evaluate possible causes of death or contributing factors.”

The statement added that the time that elapsed from the day she was found face down in her bathtub and unresponsive in January until her death on Sunday will “complicate reconstruction of the events surrounding her initial unresponsiveness. Interpretation of autopsy findings and other information will also be challenging. However, an autopsy could be helpful to address questions which may arise about the cause of her unresponsiveness and eventual death.”

The medical examiner did not release an exact date for the autopsy, but said additional lab testing might take several weeks.

The Roswell Police Department will also continue its investigation into the circumstance surrounding the events that led to her death, according to the statement.

Bobbi Kristina struggled following the death of her mother in 2012. She developed substance abuse issues including heroin, cocaine and Xanax, according to sources.

News of the 22-year-old’s condition came just days before the anniversary of Whitney Houston’s death, an eerily similar incident. Her mother died was found unresponsive in a tub and died three years ago in California. A coroner ruled her February 11, 2012 death an accidental drowning, with heart disease and cocaine as contributing factors.

Rest in peace Bobbi Kristina Brown. Our condolences to the grieving family.
