Tyrese Lands at No.1 on Billboard Charts with ‘Black Rose’

Tyrese Black Rose

After nearly two decades in the music business, Tyrese has scored his first No. 1 album on the Billboard charts with the debut of his latest album Black Rose.

Black Rose moved 86,000 equivalent units in sales this past week, according to Nielsen. That includes 83,000 copies of the full album as well as downloads and streams of tracks from the album.

The 36-year-old singer took to Instagram to share his excitement in a lengthy post that reads:

We did it!!!! BREAKING!!! First week of domestic #BlackRose sales? (( I will reveal the international sales tomorrow..)) I dug deep and inspired you into a statement!! 86,400 sold… And only 105k was shipped! ( retailers wouldn’t take a bigger order cause R&B don’t sell )… Thank you!!! Thank you.. My independent album sold 86,400 + copies in its first week…. #1 on the R&B Billboard charts and #1 on the TOP 200 – ( the first #1 album and top 200 for me in 20 years of music ).. I’ve leaned that Pride and EGO is the #1 career and relationship killer…Thank You father God. I have NO pride or ego when it comes to going ALL OUT to produce results… I am pride-less. And Gods favor has been priceless. #NoPride #VoltronChairman #VoltronEntertainment
The bible says “Pride cometh before a fall.” Thank you father God for not letting anything embarrassing happen to me and for constantly sending your love angels to keep me encouraged throughout this 3 1/2 year grueling and very emotionally draining process….. I guess it’s true… “the dept of your struggle will determine the height of your success” #TeamBlackRose and #TeamVoltron and more importantly YOU the fans and supporters We did it!! We made a statement….. R&B is still very much ALIVE…. And R&B consumers are still very much here you were just waiting on #BlackRose Embrace and enjoy this #BlackRose album it’s my baby its my heart… It’s my BEST!!

In other big news for the artist, Lee Daniels confirmed last week that Tyrese will be appearing on season 2 of Empire.

“Yes! Stop asking!!! #tyrese is coming on #empireseason2 And NO, I am not leaving my show! I just wrapped my 1st episode …,” the director wrote in an Instagram post. “I got #richardpryor to do! It was so much fun directing our wonderful cast … I miss and love them ALL… Sorta 😔 sad cause I’m not with them now but I’ll be back for the finale!! In the meantime we got some badass directors stepping in!!! #family #fox #empire #gottagettomakingmovies #iaintmadeamoviesincethebutler”

Congrats to Tyrese on his current success!!
