Chris Rock’s soon-to-be ex-wife is reportedly seeking a large amount of her husband’s $70 million fortune so she can maintain the same lifestyle she has grown accustomed to in their nearly 20 year marriage.
According to Page Six, Malaak Compton-Rock recently submitted documents to the Bergen County Courts requesting a significant portion of the comedian’s fortune, reasoning that she gave up her career and became a full-time mother to their daughters Lola Simone, 13, and Zahra Savannah, 11.
The court filings say Compton-Rock deserves a payout “commensurate with the marital standard of living.”
The stay-at-home mom married the ex-“Saturday Night Live” star in 1996 after they met at the Essence Awards while she was working in public relations.
Documents also say she and Rock, 50, have already agreed to 50-50 child custody.
The couple split in December 2014 after 19 years of marriage.
Last month, Chris spoke to The Guardian regarding his impending divorce, admitting that the process has taken an emotional toll on him.
“I’m doing OK,” Rock told the paper. “You know, some days are better than others, some days you’re sad outta your f-cking mind. But my daughters are good, and I’m only an hour away. Two houses close by. It’s good.”
