Breakup songs can cause difficult splits to be even worse.

Safaree Samuels’ single “Love The Most” was released on iTunes in which he rapped about the demise of his 12-year relationship with Nicki Minaj, which ended last year in heartbreak.

“You ain’t do it all alone. We took ourselves up out the hood,” Safaree sings. “Yeah, we made it on the rise. Ain’t no green in my eyes. ‘Cause we both went to sleep in the same bed of lies.”

The scorned lover also accused Minaj of hiding their relationship.

“What a shame / It took a split for them to know I was your man / Got so tired of hidin’ it / Head high with no pride in it / Guess I wasn’t cool enough cause in our pictures we hidin’ it,” he rapped. Later on, he added, “Twelve years up in flames / Thought you woulda had my kid / Year 3 got engaged / Now we movin’ out of rage.”

Hours after the song’s release, Nicki Minaj took to Twitter to post a series of tweets in response to ex-boyfriend Safaree Samuels’ recent song about her.

“Don’t make me do this,” she began her rant. “Lesson: don’t cheat on a loyal woman. God will punish u. What he does, tell people the truth. The truth may set u free. Love. Always.”

She continued: “Took a person with me to fame & fortune. These dudes leave their girl in the hood. Tell ppl the truth or you will be doomed. God gave me a good heart. I always let ppl get over on me way too long. But that’s why I’m blessed. I’ll always b blessed. May God keep u.”

The YMCMB rapper later took one two last jabs by saying, “And just for the record, I’m in love with meek. Lol and now I have a huge smile on my face.”

Guess it’s safe to say that the female MC was not okay with her ex expressing his feelings about their breakup despite the fact that she has openly said that her The Pinkprint album is about their relationship.

Safaree has not responded to his ex’s tweets.
