Mike Epps and Nia Long have been tapped for roles on ABC’s new comedy pilot Uncle Buck.

The single camera comedy is based on John Hughes’ movie about a childish man who learns how to be an adult by taking care of his brother Will’s kids in a very childish way.

Epps will take on the title role of Buck Russell,  who is described “the lovable dreamer and Will’s older brother who essentially raised him as a child.”

Nia Long will co-star as Will’s strong-willed and smart wife, Alexis, who is the founder of her own nonprofit that mentors at-risk girls.

Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley will pen the pilot and executive produce alongside Will Packer, the producer behind blockbuster hits Think Like a Man and Ride Along.

Uncle Buck becomes ABC’s latest to diversify its lineup.
