Fifteen years ago, the world was introduced to a Detroit rapper by the name of Eminem (born Marshall Mathers), and it’s safe to say… hip-hop hasn’t been the same ever since.

Shady Records is an American success story, so Complex magazine gathered many of the record label’s integral pieces – Eminem, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Paul Rosenberg, Royce da 5’9″ and Mr. Porter to name a few – to create a documentary that reflects how the Universal Music Group became one of the most dominant labels of the 2000s.

In a 32-minute video titled Not Afraid: The Shady Records Story, fans are taken on a stroll down memory lane that will ignite a renewed appreciation for Eminem, the label he built and the artists he signed and worked with on his journey to the top.

To celebrate Shady Records’ 15th anniversary, the label released a compilation album titled Shady XV last year, which boasted one disc with new material from Eminem and artists such as Slaughterhouse, Bad Meets Evil, D12 and Yelawolf, as well as a second disc with the label’s greatest hits.

Be prepared to face extreme measures of nostalgia…
