Whoopi Goldberg Lands Role in ABC Pilot ‘Delores & Jermaine’

Whoopi Goldberg will soon be making a return to script TV.

The View co-host has been cast to star opposite Jermaine Fowler in ABC’s comedy pilot Delores & Jermaine, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Based on the real life experiences of Fowler, the series follows “a millennial with big ideas, but very little drive, who moves in with his estranged grandmother — a strict, football-loving, former D.C. cop who needs his youthful enthusiasm in her life as much as he needs her old-school parenting.”

If Delores & Jermaine is picked up, the series is expected to work around Goldberg’s schedule with The View.

The casting marks comedian-actress-host’s first full-time series since the short-lived Whoopi on NBC over a decade ago. Since, she has had recurring roles on Glee, Once Upon a Time and 30 Rock.
