Grammys 2015: Kanye West Slams Beck’s Win

Grammys2015 Kanye West Beck

Kanye, Oh Kanye.

Remember back in 2009 when Kanye West crashed the stage to disrupt Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech in her win against Beyoncé? Well, he came really close to crashing an acceptance speech again.

This time, the moment happened when Beck’s Morning Phase surprisingly won Best Album of the Year, beating out front-runners Beyoncé  and Sam Smith.

As Beck began to give his acceptance speech, the rapper jumped on stage and appeared to grab the mic, but didn’t and walked off the stage with a smile on his face.

Everyone laughed because they thought he was joking, but after the Grammys, Kanye made it clear that walking away was him holding back and he was not kidding.

“All I know is if the Grammys want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain’t gonna play with them no more. ‘Flawless,’ Beyoncé video. Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyoncé, and at this point, we tired of it,” West said, as his wife Kim Kardashian stood at his side.

He continued, “Because what happens is, when you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental feats of music, you’re disrespectful to inspiration and we as musicians have to inspire people who go to work every day and they listen to that Beyoncé album and they feel like it takes them to another place.

He ended his rant by making it clear why he decided to leave the stage.

“By the way, I got my wife, my daughter and my clothing line, so I’m not going to do nothing to put my daughter at risk, but I am here to fight for creativity,” he explained. “That’s the reason why I didn’t say anything tonight. But you all know what it meant when ‘Ye walks on the stage.”
