Ciara Debuts New Single ‘I Bet’

Ciara I Bet

Ciara has been working on her sixth album for some time now, and the singer has finally released a new single. “I Bet,” was released just before midnight on Tuesday (Jan. 13).

Ciara has been silent about her breakup with Future, but the lyrics in the song seem to be very telling about what caused the demise of their relationship. In the ballad form, she sings about moving on from a relationship because the other person was not honest.

“I love you but I won’t be a fool for you/ That is just something that I wouldn’t do/ I mean, I would stay if you could tell the truth/But you can’t no matter how much time I ask,” she sings.

While it is not confirmed that the song is about her own experience, there a few not so subtle hints on the track, including references to the former couple’s time at fashion week in Paris. There is also a Future sound-a-like in the background throughout the song.

“I imagine this song (‘I Bet’) will be very meaningful for a lot of people. It is much bigger than any one person’s experience,” Ciara tells Billboard.

She adds: “I am truly fulfilled by this experience of making my new music. I was able to create everything I have aspired and hoped for as an artist. It is my favorite album I have made thus far in my career, and so excited to begin my new journey. It is a new me. A new attitude.”
