Nicki Minaj unveiled a short video titled The Pinkprint Film to go with the songs from her new LP, where she intertwined a trio of tracks to tell the story of a disintegrating relationship fueled with flashbacks of a fractured romance.
In the 16-minute film features Minaj and actor Boris Kodjoe as her man as the couple relive their intimate times together over the course of three tracks divided into chapters: “The Crying Game,” “I Lied” and “Grand Piano.” This is the first time fans are given a glimpse of the headstrong rapper’s vulnerability as she exposes the heartbreak of a fading relationship.
The tracks from Minaj’s The Pinkprint album is reportedly inspired by her split from longtime boyfriend Safaree Samuels.
“This is somebody I grew up with,” the singer recently told On Air with Ryan Seacrest. “I don’t even know how I’m going to function without that person in my life. I never lived my life as a famous person without him. I don’t think people realize it’s not just a breakup, that was a humongous part of my life.”
The Pinkprint hits record stands TODAY (Dec. 22).
