Cuba Gooding Jr. Cast in FX’s ‘American Crime Story: People v. O.J. Simpson’

Oscar-winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr. has been cast as O.J. Simpson in an upcoming miniseries that chronicles the high profile trial of  the football player-turned-murder defendant following the death of his wife, Nicole Simpson Brown.

Produced by Ryan Murphy, Glee and American Horror Story co-creatorthe 10 episode miniseries, titled American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, will be the first installment in the upcoming FX anthology series that dramatizes true crime stories.

According to a press release, the series’ inaugural season “is a look at the O.J. Simpson trial told from the perspective of the lawyers that explores the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court, and how a combination of prosecution confidence, defense willingness, and the LAPD’s history with the city’s African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt.”

Joining Gooding, Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story) has landed the role of prosecutor Marcia Clark. The rest of the cast has not been revealed as of now. Production is expected to begin early next year in Los Angeles.
