Iggy Azalea’s Ex Files for Divorce, She Denies Marriage

After suing Aussie born rapper Iggy Azalea for copyright infringement, ex-boyfriend Hefe Wine (also known as Maurice Williams) has decided he wants one more thing from her.. a divorce.

The only problem is, Iggy never knew they were married.

TMZ  has obtained documents filed by Wine, seeking to end what appears to be a common-law marriage.

In the documents, Wine says he and Iggy “agreed to be married, holding themselves out as man and wife and began residing together in the State of Texas on or about September, 2008.” He says they only began living separately last year.

In Texas, a couple can be considered to have a common law union if they meet these three requirements, set out by the state of Texas:

– The couple agrees that they are married.

– They live together in Texas.

– They represent themselves to other individuals that they are married to one another.

With the divorce, Wine is asking that the judge prohibit her from selling off their “community property,” which would include her most profitable asset– her music rights. In his lawsuit against her, he says that he helped create her image, her name and her sound.

Azalea, 24, began dating Wine when she was 17-years-old. Her rep denies their “marriage” or the fact that she ever agreed to marry Wine.

An anonymous spokesperson for Azalea gave the following quote to Billboard:

“It’s disappointing that this thief, felon and fugitive is continuing to use the media to attack Iggy as part of his desperate and despicable attempt to keep himself in the press. Iggy’s federal court complaint froze Mr. Williams’ ability to trade on her fame by profiting from music he stole from her, so he has resorted to elevating his predatory relationship with a 17-year-old girl into a sham ‘marriage’ claim unsupported by any certificate or evidence.”

If the “marriage” is recognized in court, music made while they were together would be considered community property, meaning both parties would own 50 percent.
