MTV VMA 2014: Beyoncé Steals Show, Accepts Vanguard Award

Last night’s MTV Video Music Awards ended with a once in a lifetime performance by the queen herself, Beyoncé. And, of course she did not disappoint.

Beyoncé turned the VMAs into the BeyMAs as she took the stage and told the crowd, “MTV, welcome to my world.” She then gave a flawless performance that was comprised of a 15-minute medley of hits from her latest self-titled album.

The crowd went crazy as the singer performed, but perhaps her biggest and cutest fan was her daughter, Blue Ivy, who watched from Jay Z’s lap in the front row. The adorable toddler even stole the limelight away from her famous mother’s performance for a moment as she danced and sang along with Beyoncé.

The high energy performance ended in tears as she closed with “XO,” followed by her acceptance of the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award from Jay Z and Blue.

Jay Z presented the award to an emotional Beyoncé, calling her the “greatest living entertainer.” Blue also showed how proud she was of her mom by clapping while exclaiming, “Go, mommy!”

After a sweet kiss and a hug, from both her husband and daughter, the singer accepted the award saying, “I’m so full, I have nothing to say. I’m filled with so much gratitude, I just thank God for this moment. I love ya’ll so much. Blue I love you Blue, my beloved (Jay Z) I love you. My fans, I love you. MTV, I love you, goodnight.”

Besides winning the coveted Vanguard, she also walked away with Best Collaboration for “Drunk In Love” ft. Jay Z and both Best Video With a Social Message and Best Cinematography for “Pretty Hurts.”
