Patti LaBelle is bringing her acting chops to American Horror Story: Freak Show.

As first reported by TVLine, the Grammy Hall of Famer will appear in four episodes of the FX series this season playing the mother of Gabourey Sidibe’s character.

Season four of the series will focus on the last freak show in America and will be set in Jupiter, Fla. circa 1952 with Jessica Lange in the leading role. The AHS vet’s character will be a German expat managing the freak show. She will be joined by fellow vets Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett and Frances Conroy. Newbies include Michael Chiklis, playing a strongman who’s married to Bassett’s character, and guest star Wes Bentley.

According to sources, LaBelle’s character–who will not do any singing– will be a local townsperson  who begins to unravel the deadly secrets of Twisty the clown killer.

‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ premieres this October on FX.
