LeBron James Returns to Cleveland Cavaliers

LeBron James is taking his talents back to Cleveland.

Four years after stunning the sports world with his decision to join the Miami Heat, LeBron has made another dramatic move announced Friday via an interview with Sports Illustrated

“When I left Cleveland, I was on a mission. I was seeking championships, and we won two. But Miami already knew that feeling,” he explained in the  first-person essay. “Our city hasn’t had that feeling in a long, long, long time. My goal is still to win as many titles as possible, no question. But what’s most important for me is bringing one trophy back to Northeast Ohio.”

It’s an astonishing turn of events because his Cleveland departure caused his hometown fans to turn on him as they called him a traitor and burned his jerseys. Cleveland owner Dan Gilbert also expressed his disgust in a letter, calling LeBron’s departure a “a shameful display of selfishness and betrayal.”

His agent met with several teams last week, including the Lakers, but Cleveland was James’ No.1 choice, despite a sit-down Wednesday with Miami president Pat Riley.

Now that LeBron has decided to return, he has gone from villain and will hopefully go back to being the hometown hero. Gilbert has even taken down the passionate, but bitter letter once posted on the team’s website.

Though LeBron says he is “not promising a championship,”he ended by saying, “I’m ready to accept the challenge. I’m coming home.”
