Breakout star Lupita Nyongo’s year has already been amazing and it just got even better!
She has just landed her first cover of Vogue magazine, and she looks stunning on the front of the July issue.
The cover shows the Oscar-winning actress in a printed Prada dress with shades of purple and red from the designer’s Fall 2014 RTW collection. She accessorizes the look with silver bangle bracelets, silver earrings, a smokey eye and berry lips.
Inside the glossy pages of what is known as the “American Fashion Bible”, it only gets better, as the star stuns in designs from Givenchy Proenza Schouler and many more in the spread shot by Mikael Jansson.
We first fell in love with Lupita following her role as Patsy in 12 Years a Slave, and soon after, the Academy-Award winning actress dominated the red carpet making her Hollywood’s newest “It” girl. Her incomparable beauty also earned her the prestigious honor of being named People magazine’s “Most Beautiful.”
In Vogue’s July cover story, Lupita touches on her award-winning role in 12 Years a Slave and her sudden success.
“I was really nervous about seeing myself in 12 Years a Slave,” says Lupita, “because it had been such a profound experience in all ways. I remember it being one of the most joyful times in my life—and also one of the most sorrowful. I didn’t want my experience to be a vain one. But I will say that when I watched it, my heartstrings were pulled so tight for Solomon that I couldn’t go into the ego trip. I cried—I mean, I was inconsolable. I wept for an hour after the movie.”
Now that she know’s the experience in her pivotal role as Patsy was not in vain, she realizes that what once was her dream, is now her reality.
“It just feels like the entertainment industry exploded into my life. People who seemed so distant all of a sudden were right in front of me and recognizing me—before I recognized them!” Nyong’o stated.
