50 Cent’s First Week Prediction Sales For ‘Animal Ambition’ Disappoint

Rapper 50 Cent has kept his name in headlines these past few months, but according to reports from Hits Daily Double, his first week sales for upcoming LP may be the lowest numbers of his career.

The site predicts that 5th LP Animal Ambition will open with 30,000-35,000 units in the first week, in comparison to his preceding LP Before I Destruct Myself in 2009 with 160,000 copies. Even before those numbers, the Queens native made a huge splash with his multiplatinum debut of The Massacre with 1.14 million copies in the initial release week almost a decade ago.

Now, as an independent artist, 50 will be releasing his first album in five years since parting with Interscope Records. He teamed up with Trey Songz on the Dr. Dre-produced “Smoke” in Animal Ambition, but the tracks don’t compare to the infectious rhymes and spirit of past club hits like “Candy Shop” and “21 Questions.” However, 50 Cent has been dropping a track/video for each week in the month of March.

The LP officially released yesterday, June 3, accepting bitcoin payments using BitPay through the rapper’s Shopify store.
