Transgender blogger B. Scott lost his lawsuit against BET after claiming the music channel humiliated him on red carpet when they forced him to dress like a man during the BET Awards last year. A Los Angeles judge ruled in favor of the network stating that they had 1st Amendment rights (Freedom of Speech) to run the show as the network pleased, even if that meant Scott, named Brandon Sessoms, had to change from women’s clothing to men’s during the show. He was later taken off the show entirely.

Scott has plans to appeal the decision of the verdict, saying, “It disheartens me that the message sent today wasn’t a message of acceptance, but rather it’s acceptable to discriminate against transgender individuals on the basis of their gender identity and expression.”  He asked to receive $2.5 million from BET and parent company Viacom under the terms of discrimination.
