Brandy and Fiancé Ryan Press End Their Engagement

Another sad split in the celebrity world.

Brandy and her fiancé Ryan Press have decided to call off their engagement and end their relationship, the singer’s rep confirms to Us Weekly.

“They are no longer together. The engagement is off, but the friendship is still on,” the singer’s rep says in a statement. “They decided to take a step back and reevaluate the relationship. Brandy is 35 now—that’s what her whole #35 on Twitter is about, becoming her own woman.”

Break up rumors began to circulate in February when Brandy was seen without her wedding ring at the 45th NAACP Awards. The ring and her beau were missing at her 35th birthday party as well.

The Grammy-winning “Boy Is Mine” singer and the music executive announced their engagement in December 2012. This would have been the first marriage for the singer, who has a daughter from a previous relationship with Robert Smith.

Though her walk down the aisle may not be as soon as she would like, she still has hopes that it will happen one day.

“Brandy has a daughter and she still wants to be married and have more kids but she is working on so many other things right now,” the rep tells Us Weekly. “They haven’t ended things on a bad note and they still speak all the time.”

Brandy is currently working on a new album and appeared on VH1 Morning Buzz Live Tuesday (April 15) to talk about what she’s working on in the studio, but did not mention the split.

“It’s going to be a very personal album for me,” she told host Nick Lachey. “This album is just special for the whole therapy thing. I sing about my life and a lot of the things that I’ve been going through lately.”
