Brandy Joins “The Soul Man” Cast For Its Live Show

Singer-actress Brandy has been casted for TV Land’s The Soul Man, E! exclusively reveals.

E! got the scoop on the live episode for the season three premiere and described it as follows:

The episode centers on Boyce (Cedric “The Entertainer”) headlining his first annual church fundraiser for the summer youth program. He tries to reunite his old band for the event. Brandy will play Rita, one of his former backup dancers, who is desperately trying to hide a big secret.

Also causing some trouble are Lolli (Niecy Nash) and Boyce’s feelings about Stamps (Wesley Jonathan) and Kim’s (Kellee Stewart) possible plans to move in together.

The live season premiere is a first for The Soul Man, which stars Cedric the Entertainer as an R&B superstar-turned-minister who moves from Las Vegas to St. Louis with his wife. Also a first, the episode will simulcast on TV Land’s sister channels, BET and Centric.

“We are so proud of ‘The Soul Man’ and its appeal to all audiences,” said Larry W. Jones, President, TV Land. “BET has been a fantastic partner on this series and with Centric now coming on board, we’re thrilled that even more viewers will have the opportunity to see the show across multiple Viacom properties. Going live on one network is big enough, but going live on three networks is a true programming event.”

The live episode of The Soul Man airs on TV Land,  Centric and BET on March 26 at 10:30 p.m.
