Nicki Minaj & Basketball Star John Wall Team Up To Grant Young Cancer Patient’s Wish
After failed attempts to make Miyah’s wish to come true despite community efforts, John Wall caught wind of the story and used his own star-power in an effort to fulfill Miyah’s wish to meet Nicki and wear one of her famous pink wigs.
The Slam Dunk champ took to his own social media pages to help push Miyah’s campaign with the hashtags #HelpMiyahMeetNicki and #PinkWigForMiyah.
Wall’s combined 1.5 million Instagram and Twitter followers was just the push Miyah needed. Nicki Minaj acknowledged the request by reposting Wall’s original Instagram video to her own account with the caption:
In an interview with The Washington Post, Wall explained his motivation to help Miyah get Nicki’s attention:
“I had an opportunity with my celebrity status, knowing people that know people, to help this girl’s dream come true. I knew [Nicki] had a caring heart, and when she had an opportunity to see it or read about it, I knew she’d reach out as soon as she could. I just thank my fans, everybody who retweeted it and reposted it, to give me the opportunity to make this girl’s wish come true…You never want to miss an opportunity to put a smile on a kid’s face.”
That’s so precious! Kudos to John Wall and Nicki Minaj for coming together for a good cause. Don’t you just love the power of social media.
