Rihanna Wins Millions In Real Estate Lawsuit

Bajan songstress Rihanna and the Berdon LLP firm reached a $10 million settlement after she initially filed suit for $35 million in 2012.

Rihanna, who sued under her real name Robyn Fenty, claimed her former accountant Peter Gounis of Berdon LLP, provided bad advice that almost caused her to file bankruptcy.

Rihanna claims that she had $11 million in cash in January 2009 but lost $9 million by the end of the year- mainly because her accountant told her to buy a Beverly Hills mansion for $7.5 million. The mansion turned out to have mold and water problems that required expensive renovations. Mr. Gounis told her she could afford to purchase the home when she was actually running out of cash. The trouble-ridden mansion ended up having to be sold at a $2 million loss.

“The defendants advised Ms. Fenty by e-mail that purchasing a home in Los Angeles ‘would be a good investment’ despite knowing Ms. Fenty was experiencing financial difficulties,” says Rihanna’s lawyer Edward Estrada.

RiRi’s current net worth is $43 million. The $10 million settlement, is scheduled to be signed and finalized this week.
