Tia and Tamera shared their experiences with harsh racism on an OWN special of “Where Are They Now.” The famous twins opened their homes to national television for three successful seasons of their reality show “Tia & Tamera,” but it reeled in hurtful comments that lead Tamera Mowry-Housely to tears.

The teary-eyed actress shared that her inter-racial marriage to Adam, who is Caucasian, was based love, but that didn’t stop others from criticizing her relationship. Dabbing at her eyes, Tamera revealed being called a “white man’s whore.” The latest remark was by someone saying, “Back in the day you cost three hundred dollars, but now you’re giving it to him for free.”

It seems as though Tamera might have been struggling to keep the harsh remarks of criticism to herself, because twin sister Tia Mowry-Hardict looked shocked by the Tamera’s experiences and shared a few of her own.

“I’ve had people say that, ‘[Tamera] has done it right by marrying a White man,’” she said when Tamera admitted she was told that Tia was a true black woman due to her marriage to a black man.

Tia and Tamera grew up in an interracial household under the tender love and care of their beautiful black mother and handsome white father, without the boundaries of race being an issue. Regardless of the words of hate being spewed about her family, Tamera is still proud of her family.

“I love my husband so much. I love our family. I love our dynamic. I’m proud to be in the relationship that I am because it’s based no love. Pure love.”
