Never Before Heard Interview Audio of Tupac Talks Life and Death

The latest installment of PBS’ animated web series “Blank on Blank” takes previously unheard audio from a 1994 interview with Tupac Shakur by Entertainment Weekly reporter Ben Svetkey.

The intriguing and somewhat eerie interview finds Tupac telling the reporter that his best case scenario in 15 years is, “In a cemetery. Not in a cemetery — sprinkled in ashes, smoked up by my homies.” He pauses. “I mean worst case. That’s the worst case. Best case: multimillionaire, owning all of this sh*t.”

As he continues his talks about life he compares himself to the likes of John Wayne. “Somebody who pulled himself up from their bootstraps. From poverty. From welfare. Now … I’m doing movies. I feel like a tragic hero in a Shakespeare play, you know what I’m saying?”

Tupac Shakur was murdered on Sept. 13 1996 in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. The case remains unsolved.
