Nick Cannon Impostor Disappears With Fred Segal Jewelry

2012 Halo Awards - Show

Someone pretended to be part of Nick Cannon’s posse and stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry by Fred Segal. How did that happen?

A man who called himself “Michael” convinced an assistant from the Fred Segal apparel store in Santa Monica to meet him at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood with a bag of jewelry for Mariah Carey. Known for her lavish life of glitz and glamour, it didn’t come as a surprise when a man who claimed to be from Nick Cannon’s posse requested jewelry for the entertainer to give to his wife.

At the front door, another man (not “Michael”) dressed as a security guard, met the woman and told her he would take the goods up to Nick’s room and come down with cash — in order to avoid paying taxes. The woman obliged and handed over the bag of jewelry, but that was the last she saw of him. The Los Angeles police are looking into the case, but the specific value of the stolen merchandise has not been disclosed to the public.

How expensive is the merchandise we’re looking for? Let’s just say you can’t find a pair of pants for less than $300 at that store.
