Damon Dash Abandons His Upstate New York Mansion Due To Financial Woes

"The Debt" New York Screening - After Party

Roc-A-Fella records co-founder, Damon Dash, trashed and abandoned his upstate New York mansion only six months after begging a judge for time to sort out his financial troubles.

According to the Daily Mail, the floors in Dash’s home were littered with dirty clothes, drug paraphernalia and expensive jewelry. The former rapper also left various works of art in the mansion that he owes $162,000 in back rent on in addition to payments to the maid and his landlord for storing his abandoned property.

Dash’s financial troubles stem from a mix of lavish living in spite of  outstanding debts including $2 million in back taxes to the state of New York from 2009, a $237,078 outstanding loan, suits brought by designer Charlotte Ronson, and another lawsuit by a celebrity bodyguard firm.

Damon Dash rose to prominence after founding Roc-A-Fella records with Jay Z in 1996. The two soon branched out into apparel with the introduction of Rocawear clothing in 1999.

Dash is also the ex-husband of designer Rachel Roy with whom he has two daughters.
