Jamie Foxx To Play Daddy Warbucks In ‘Annie’ Remake

Jamie Foxx, soon to be seen as the villain ‘Electro’ in The Amazing Spider-Man sequel, may be living in the lap of luxury in his next role. The Academy Award winning actor has just signed on to star opposite Quvenzhane Wallis (Beast of The Southern Wild) in “Annie,” the update of the classic comic strip-turned-musical that Sony is making with producers Will Smithand Jay-Z.

Jamie Foxx has been cast as Daddy Warbucks, only they’re calling him “Benjamin Stacks” in this one. Benjamin Stacks is a variation of the Daddy Warbucks personage, who takes in the spunky orphan girl being played by Wallis. You know he’s rich because his name literally means stacks of $100 bills, aka Benjamins.

Coming to theaters this summer, Jamie Foxx will star as the president in the studio’s Roland Emmerich-helmed “White House Down,” which opens June 28.
