The BET Honors 2013 Awards took place this weekend and honored many well-known African American personalities performing at top levels in the areas of music, literature, entertainment, education and more.

Women’s National Basketball Association champion and gold medalist Lisa Leslie was honored at the 2013 BET Honors with an ‘Award for Athletics.’ Other stars that were also honored at the event were actress Halle Berry, musician Chaka Khan, music executive Clarence Avant and religious leader T.D. Jakes.

Halle Berry was not honored for her acting skills, but instead was honored for her charity work on behalf of domestic violence victims at L.A.’s Jenesse Center.

Actress Gabrielle Union hosted the event with performance by Alicia Keys, Brandy, Erykah Badu, Wayne Brady, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The special will air on February 13 on BET.
