Hip-Hop Mogul Jay-Z Writes Book On Rhymes, Inspiration

57582762Multitalented rapper Jay-Z is planning on releasing a book that will tell the stories behind his lyrics, The New York Observer reports.

The book deal with the Spiegel & Grau imprint of Random House is the first for Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Corey Carter. In a 2007 interview with MTV, Jay-Z claimed he never writes down his lyrics but instead mumbles words to himself in the studio before stepping into the booth to record a complete song.

It was Jay-Z’s literary agent, Matthew Guma, who approached editors and publishers with the idea of a three-part series, including a traditional memoir, a business book, and the third one that Spiegel & Grau ended up acquiring, according to The Observer.
