Whitney Houston sets date for release of comeback album

56677085Whitney Houston’s comeback comes one step closer to becoming a reality with the announcement, today, of a Sept. 1 release date for her next album. No other details were immediately available.

The Newark-born, East Orange-raised Houston, who turns 46 in August, last released an album in 2003: the Christmas-themed “One Wish: The Holiday Album.” Her last non-holiday release was 2002’s “Just Whitney.”

Houston was one of the pop world’s most successful artists of the ’80s and ’90s, but her life and career was a chaotic mess for much of the last decade, due largely to her admitted drug problems. But after multiple rehab stays she is ready to try starting over again.
